On Friday, Linden Labs will begin enforcing the new Policy on Third Party Viewers. This is the original message from Linden Labs about the new upgrade

SECOND LIFE ®

Viewer 2.0.1 Now Available for Download

Hello,

Since launching Viewer 2 on 3/31, we've received a tremendous amount of Resident feedback and we want to thank you for sharing your thoughts with us; it helped us quickly prioritize the next batch of enhancements in Viewer 2.0.1.

Viewer 2.0.1 is available for download today and squarely aimed at improving security, performance, and stability. Although there aren't any changes to Viewer 2 usability or features in this release, we're working on them and will continue to use your feedback to help guide our efforts.

If you're currently using Viewer 2, then it's important to download this update. Please click on the correct link below to begin the automatic download.

Windows | Mac | Linux

We look forward to your continued feedback on the V2 Forum and please log any bugs that you find on Jira. Thank you for your help to make Second Life and Viewer 2 a better experience for everyone!

Best regards,
Your Friends at Linden Lab

"Since enabling shadows in the new viewer 2.0, I haven’t crashed yet!"

Shadows is an old hiden feature, but it seems shadows are more stable in the new viewer.
As an SL/Rl architect said last week ..."For the longest time, I had given up on the possibility of using shadows persistently in Second Life, given that it crashed my viewer so often it wasn’t worth the hassle. But since enabling shadows in the new viewer 2.0, I haven’t crashed yet!"
Mmmm i have test it and i crashed again lol, but it depends on hardware configuration...so you may try it!!
KirstenLee Cinquetti started to included shadows in her SL viewer seince 2008 and now she has build one of the best SL viewers (if you want to try go to her webpage http://www.kirstensviewer.com/).

Look this nice article talking about how activate dinamic shadows in Second Life....
